Chatô Sisal Wall Scratcher — 20 × 40 cm, self-adhesive

Sisal is the fibre cats prefer for scratching at height: rough enough to catch the claw, dense enough not to fall apart on the first go. It's the material used on cat trees, in a flat and discreet version.

What you should know

• It's a targeted format, not a large surface. 20 × 40 cm covers a door frame or a furniture corner, not a whole side of a sofa — for that, our self-adhesive scratching mat cuts to any size.
• A smooth, clean surface is essential. On textured render or bare wood, use the velcro rather than the adhesive alone.
• The sisal sheds slightly for the first few weeks; that's normal and it settles.

Where to put it

At your cat's shoulder height when it stretches up, so roughly 40 to 50 cm off the floor. Too low and it ignores it; too high and it can't push against it. And as always: where it already scratches.
