Chatô Claw Clippers — curved blade, safety guard

The problem isn't the cutting. It's the fear of cutting too short. These clippers have a curved blade that follows the shape of the claw and an adjustable guard that limits how deep you cut. You can see exactly where you're cutting.

A cat's claw contains a living pink part, called the quick, visible through pale claws. That's what you must not reach. With a straight blade you cut blind; with a curved blade, the claw positions itself on the right axis.

What we like

• Curved stainless steel blade: the claw settles into place by itself
• Adjustable safety guard so you don't cut too short
• Non-slip handles, gentle return spring
• Compact, suited to cat and kitten claws
• Can be disinfected with alcohol between uses

What you should know

• Only cut the clear tip. On a pale claw, the pink area shows against the light: stay 2 mm in front of it. On a dark claw, cut very little and more often.
• Two claws per session is plenty at the start. Five short sessions beat one battle.
• This is not a veterinary device. For an ingrown or damaged claw, or any bleeding, see your vet.
• Estimated delivery: 10 to 15 working days.

The right moment

Just after a meal or a nap, when your cat is relaxed. Take the paw without gripping, press the pad gently to bring out the claw, cut, release. If it pulls the paw away, give it back immediately — that's how it accepts the next time.
