Eating with the head level rather than nose to the floor. A bowl placed straight on the tiles forces the cat to fold in two: neck bent, front legs splayed. On a stand, it keeps its head in line with its body and eats in a more natural position.
The bowl is glazed ceramic: smooth, non-porous, it holds neither smell nor grease — unlike plastic, which scratches and retains residue wash after wash.
